Using images in your quiz and learning materials

Adding images to your quiz can make it more engaging, easier to understand, and more memorable.

With FlexiQuiz, you can upload images in JPG, JPEG, BMP, GIF or PNG format, up to a maximum file size of 2 MB. You can add images to questions, feedback, text and media pages, welcome pages and thank-you pages.

How to add images to your quiz questions

  1. To start, create a new quiz or edit an existing one.
  2. From your Create screen, click Add Element+ and pick a question. The question editor will appear on the right side of your screen.
  3. In the Question box, you can add any text first or add the image.
  4. To add the image, click on the picture icon.

  5. A pop-up will appear that allows you to upload your image.
  6. Click the Choose image button to upload your image in JPG, JPEG, BMP, GIF, or PNG format, with a maximum size of 2 MB.
  7. Once the image uploads, it will appear on the pop-up.

  8. Click Add to add the image to your quiz question.
  9. The image will appear in your Question box. From here, you can click on the corner and drag the picture to the correct size.
  10. Then add any answer options, format, and save the question to your quiz.
  11. Click Preview on the top right to see how the image looks as part of your quiz question.

Feedback

Add images or GIFs to learner feedback to celebrate a correct answer or provide a more detailed visual explanation. This can make feedback more engaging and help learners understand the question.

Introduce learners to your quiz or learning content with an eye-catching image that reflects the subject, your brand or both.

Add a thank-you page to the end of your quiz to acknowledge learners’ participation and explain what they should do next.

Text and Media Sections

Text and media sections allow you to share information without awarding points. You can use them to provide training materials, instructions, videos, images and other learning content.

Page Background Images

You can add a background image to any page in your quiz. Use the same image throughout for a consistent design, or choose different images for individual page types.

You can save your design as a custom theme for future quizzes. Alternatively, save time by choosing one of the ready-made FlexiQuiz image themes.

Images in Answer Options

You can add images to the answer options for many FlexiQuiz question types.

With a picture choice question, each answer option contains an image and learners select the correct picture as their response.

You can also add images to matching, checkbox, and ordered list questions.

How to add images to an answer option:

  1. Go to the answer options section in the question editor.
  2. Click the arrow beside the relevant answer box to open the formatting menu.

  3. Select the picture icon and upload your image. We recommend an image that is a maximum of 200 pixels wide.
  4. Click Save to add the question to your quiz

Top tips to optimize the experience for quiz takers

  • Make sure learners have a reliable internet connection, especially when your quiz contains large image files.
  • Compress images before uploading them using tools such as TinyPNG or JPEG Compressor.
  • If learners do not have a great internet connection, avoid using too many features on the same page, such as background images, a progress bar, and a page time limit.
  • For the best experience, use no more than two images per page.
  • Images up to 800 pixels wide generally display well across different devices.
