Assigning quizzes to a group

Groups is a FlexiQuiz LMS feature that allows you to manage groups of learners and groups of educational materials efficiently.

If you want to share your quiz with multiple learners, such as a class, the Groups feature saves you time and allows you to track performance at a group level.

In this guide, we explore how to assign a quiz to a Group, including adding the quiz manually, using APIs and managing limited-time access.

Getting started

  1. To start, you must decide whether to make a new quiz or assign an existing one.
  2. You also need to create the Group to whom you want to assign the quiz.
  3. Once you have a quiz and Group, it’s time to decide how you want to assign your quiz to the Group, or multiple Groups.

How to assign a group when making a quiz

  1. Access your relevant quiz or learning activity and select the Publish tab.
  2. Now scroll down the page to Assign Users/Group and tick the box. publish screen displaying box selected to assign group
  3. Click the Assign Groups button and a window will pop up. The Available column lists all Groups linked to your account and the Assigned column lists all Groups where the quiz is already assigned.
  4. In the Available column, click on and highlight the Group to which you want to assign the quiz. Click >> and the Group will move from the Available to Assigned column.   5. When you have assigned the relevant Groups, press Save. The Group now appears on the Assigned Users/Groups table. All Respondents in this Group can access the quiz when it is open.

How to assign a quiz from the Groups' dashboard

  1. Select Groups from the top menu and the Groups dashboard will appear.
  2. Now scroll down the table and click on the Group where you want to assign a quiz.
  3. The Group profile page appears. The Quizzes box lists any learning activities and tests already assigned to this group. To add additional quizzes, click Assign quizzes. a group profile and with options to assign quizzes and users
  4. A window pops up that lists all quizzes not assigned to this group. Click and highlight the quiz that you want to assign.
  5. Press Assign selected quizzes to add the learning activity to the group. The quiz now appears in the Quizzes box. Respondents assigned to the Group can instantly access the quiz providing it is open.

If you have an Enterprise or Enterprise+ plan, you can assign a quiz to a Group using APIs. This guide shows you how to use APIs to assign a group to a quiz.

How to manage limited time access

With FlexiQuiz, you can set dates and times when the class will be able to access the quiz. You can also send automatic reminders to remind them to complete the activity.

  1. Go to the relevant quiz and click on the Configure tab.
  2. Next, select General from the left-hand menu and scroll down the page to Schedule.
  3. Now tick the box and enter the date and time that you would like the quiz to open and close. Learn more about scheduling times for a quiz. screen displaying dates and times to schedule when the quiz is open
  4. In addition, you can send an email to remind students to take the test when the quiz is open. To access this feature, select Notifications from the left-hand menu.
  5. Scroll down the page and tick the box Respondent reminder. The first reminder email is sent on the set number of days after the quiz opens for Respondents. For example, if you schedule the quiz to open on October 1st and set the first reminder to be sent after 1 day, the FlexiQuiz system will automatically open the quiz on October 1st and email the reminder to the Respondent on October 2nd (i.e.1 day later).
