Setting up two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your FlexiQuiz account by requiring an additional verification step when you sign in.

You can enable 2FA if you hold a FlexiQuiz account type, including Administrator, Trainer, or Respondent. This helps protect both account access and the data stored in FlexiQuiz.


How to enable two-factor authentication on your account

To set up 2FA, you need an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator or Duo Mobile.

  1. Sign in to your FlexiQuiz account and select Settings from the top menu.
  2. Choose Account on the left-hand menu.
  3. Under User settings, go to Security.

  4. Click Enable two-factor, and a window will pop up that lets you set up 2FA.

  5. From your authentication app, add a new account; you can usually do this by pressing the + symbol.
  6. Use your app to scan the QR code shown on the FlexiQuiz page. Your authenticator app will add FlexiQuiz with a dedicated authentication code.
  7. Then return to FlexiQuiz and enter the six-digit verification code that your authenticator app generates.
  8. To finish, click Confirm.

A pop-up message will appear to confirm that two-factor authentication is set up on your account.

When you sign in to FlexiQuiz, open your authenticator app to access the code and enter it on the FlexiQuiz site when prompted.


Frequently asked questions

How do I log in to FlexiQuiz with 2FA?

Once two-factor verification is enabled for your FlexiQuiz account, you'll be required to provide a verification code each time you sign in.

  1. Log in to your FlexiQuiz account on any device as you normally would, using your unique username and password. Then, you will be prompted to enter a verification code.
  2. Now go to your authenticator app and locate your FlexiQuiz account.
  3. Enter the six-digit verification code on the FlexiQuiz authentication page and click Login.

How do I turn off two-factor authentication?

  1. Go to your Settings screen and select Account from the left-hand menu. If 2FA is enabled, you will see the option to disable two-factor.

A message will pop up to confirm that two-factor has been turned off.


I am an account Admin; how do I disable two-factor for other users?

  1. Sign in to your FlexiQuiz account and select Users from the top menu. This opens your users dashboard, which lists all users linked to your FlexiQuiz account.
  2. Click on the relevant user to open their profile page.
  3. If the user has enabled 2FA, a button to disable two-factor authentication will appear. Click Reset.

The user will now be able to sign in to FlexiQuiz without using two-factor authentication.


What happens if I am locked out?

If you've got a new phone or do not have access to your authenticator app, you can ask an account Admin to disable two-factor for you manually.

You can contact us if you are the main Admin with no other Admins linked to your account.


Can Trainers and Respondents set up two-factor?

All Trainers can set up two-factor authentication using the steps above.

Respondents can also set up two-factor if the Settings screen is enabled on their portal. You can check if a Respondent can access the Settings screen:

  1. Go to your Settings screen and select Respondent from the left-hand menu.
  2. Select the Display settings screen toggle.
