Retaking incorrect questions only
There may be times when you want learners to retake a quiz, focusing only on the questions they answered incorrectly rather than repeating the ones they already got right on their first attempt.
FlexiQuiz allows you to create a quiz, and if learners need to retake the quiz, they are only shown the questions that they got wrong.
This approach helps learners focus on areas they need to improve and makes it easy to track how many attempts it takes them to achieve a score of 100%.
How to set retakes for incorrect questions only
- Create a quiz.
- Then go to the Configure screen.
- Scroll down the page to Maximum quiz attempts. Learn more about setting the maximum quiz attempts and how to share it with your learners.
- Enter the maximum number of times learners can retake your quiz. If you leave the box blank, learners can take your quiz as many times as they want.
- To only allow learners to retake the quiz if they fail, tick the box ‘can only retake if fail quiz’.

To show learners the questions they got wrong only, tick the box 'only retake incorrect questions'.

If you have a FlexiQuiz paid subscription, you can also customize the navigation buttons and text on the results page to help learners understand the next steps.
Learners will now see the questions they got wrong in previous attempts. They do not see the questions they have already answered correctly.
How it works
Learners take and submit their quiz in the usual way.
When you allow multiple quiz attempts, the learner clicks retake. The FlexiQuiz system will only display the questions the learner got wrong. The learner will not be able to view any text/media items after the first attempt.
For example, the quiz has 50 questions, and the learner gets two wrong. The learner can retake the test, but instead of having to go through all 50 questions, they only view the two they got wrong.
You can view how many attempts the learner has made and their progress on the analyze screen.
Frequently asked questions
How does it work if I have questions from the question bank?
Each time the learner retakes the quiz, the FlexiQuiz system will select the same questions from the bank that were shown on the first attempt.
If you want learners to get a different set of questions each time they retake the test, do not select the retake incorrect questions option.
What happens when learners answer all the questions correctly?
Once learners answer all the questions correctly, they do not have the option to retake the quiz.
